"I am a local artist, producing paintings, ceramics, textiles, prints and cards.
I graduated from Bath Academy of Art in the 1960's with a BA Hons degree in Fine Art, subsequently returning to Jersey to work in the design department of the Jersey Pottery.
After marriage and children, I returned to painting, specialising in the subject of the Jersey cow, aiming to capture the spirit and essence of this iconic animal.
I am passionate about our island home, and relish the challenges that each new day working in my studio brings. I aim to celebrate the natural world in all it's forms; our coastline where land meets sea, and the flora and fauna that exist in our environment.
I use both watercolours and oils to depict the play of light on sea, sand and rocks and aim to produce work somewhere between abstract and naturalistic to create mood and feeling. The possibilities are endless!
I have always loved working in three dimensions and enjoy making quirky boats, fish, seabirds, relief tiles, a range of Christmas ceramics and anything else that comes to mind, in high fired stoneware using natural coloured glazes and some surface decoration. Again for Christmas I make hand felted wool bunting and robins, dry needle felting the designs. This year I am in the process of having a new range of my designs printed on tea towels as well as printed cotton bunting.
Apart from the Skipton Open Studios where I will be showing my work alongside my daughter Lucy's paintings and ceramics in Bluestone Studio in St. Ouen, I will be at the weekly Saturday markets in St. Aubin and the Royal Square throughout the summer.
My work can also be seen in the Harbour Gallery, Framing Workshop, Rococo, Spice House, Maison la Mare, the Windmill cafe, Jane James and the airport."
