Lizi Hill creates sculptural pieces in ceramic, wood and stainless steel, exploring the nature of movement and movement in nature. Her aim is to create a calm and peaceful space making full use of light, reflection and shadow. Her choice of materials is carefully selected to explore these themes and to reflect the locations surrounding her sculptures. Each work is the result of many and varied exploratory studies in photographs and drawings, as well as extensive research.
Lizi won the St Brelade's Bay Hotel Podium Art Competition 2015 with her work '4π’ (pi), a möbius strip (a mathematical shape having only one side and one edge) made of highly polished steel. The sculpture is kinetic, gently moving with the wind and is endlessly reflecting the sea, sky and spirit of its location.
This work naturally followed from her Highlands College Degree show that was selected for exhibition at CCA Gallery in 2015. At the Jersey Arts Centre in 2014 she created a large installation from 500 pieces of paper porcelain titled ‘Memory of movement.’ Her installations create surreal and beautiful spaces.
Lizi will be exhibiting her art at Daisy Cottage Campsite and Retreat in St Ouen. Sculptural work in ceramic and stainless steel. Also drawing, collage, photography and print.
