June Gould is a Potter, who trained at Harrow College of Art and Design and Goldsmiths College, University of London.
"My studio is in the heart of La Mielle conservation area, in the wild west of Jersey, St.Ouen’s bay, which, naturally, influences my work, my glazes, and my oil paintings.
My Ceramic work utilises many different methods of making, and many different clays, (even Jersey clay) which I often allow to integrate, challenging their thermal capacities.
I am enthralled to the Alchemy of making my own glazes, transforming the Earth’s minerals, through my various recipes, into vibrant colour.
Raku, an ancient Japanese firing method based on Zen philosophy, is also part of my repertoire; as is oil painting, capturing the drama of my local environment with fingers and knives.
More recently I have been involved with the community project 'Les P’tit Faitcheaux', using Jersey clay to make little creatures which were subsequently taken and left at various chosen venues around the world.
Some of my students will also be showing work at my Open Studio."
Open Studio: 25th + 26th June
